1.5 MWp Rooftop — Cold Storage, Punjab
Punjab, India · Cold Chain & Agriculture
Overview
1.5 MWp on a cold storage facility where refrigeration load peaks exactly when irradiation does, giving near-total self-consumption without storage.
The challenge
Cold store margins are thin and power is the dominant cost, but the facility could not tolerate any interruption to refrigeration during installation, and roof access was restricted to the harvest off-season.
What we did
Installation was sequenced block by block in the off-season with no refrigeration downtime, and the array sized to the compressor duty cycle so 98% of generation is consumed on site. Energy cost per tonne of storage fell by 34%.
