12 MWp Floating Solar — Irrigation Reservoir, Maharashtra
Maharashtra, India · Utilities & IPPs
Overview
A 12 MWp floating array on an irrigation reservoir, delivering higher yield than an equivalent ground-mount plant while using no land and reducing evaporation from the water body.
The challenge
The reservoir draws down nearly 7 m between monsoon and summer, so a fixed mooring design would have either gone slack or torn at the anchors. Cable management also had to survive constant movement for 25 years.
What we did
Mooring was engineered to the measured 7 m drawdown with compensating tension lines rather than a nominal level, and floats specified as UV-stabilised HDPE on a 25-year design life. Water cooling delivered a 7.1% yield uplift over the equivalent ground-mount case.
